did a google search, do we have any “military” 737 – 800 or lion planes missing. YEP this one and it was a “military” plane with missing military people on it… I can’t find any recovery other than some debris being thought of it being it, but then that’s where the trail stops?
Lionair Flight 602 was a Lionair Antonov An-24RV which fell into the sea off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka. The aircraft departed Kankesanturai Airport with several high-ranking military officials of theSri Lankan Army on a flight to Colombo and disappeared from radar screens just after the pilot had reported depressurization. Initial reports indicated that the plane had been shot down by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam rebels using MANPADS.
The letter from ‘Tamil Eelam Administrative Service’ said they had warned the Airline earlier for carrying military personnel
